With any brand of lace or even vinyl rib materials, I start my tie in point behind the eye of the hook where the thorax will be and stretch the lace/vinyl rib as I wrap the thread back to the bend of the hook. Once I get to the bend of the hook, I'll wrap the thread forward to the eye of the hook and throw in a half hitch for insurance purposes.

Then I grab on to the lace/vinyl rib material and pull tightly for the first 2-3 turns around the hook shank and then loosen up a bit as I use the rotary function of my vise to wing the material forward to the tie off point.
