My dad has recently given me a bamboo fly rod that he found at a garage sale. It is a 3pc 9ft fly rod. All of the info from the fly rod is worn off. The reel that is on it says Marlin Fish Rell Co. Mowhawk N.Y.
The reel also has an inscription etched into it that says "from Irene To Angelo Pinlo. 1946" which I thought was very cool cause it helps me figure out kind of how old the rod is... Any way. When I assemble the rod and take aim with it so to speak, there is a tweak on the tip section of the rod near the ferule. I cannot tell if it is the ferule or not but what can I do To fix this. Should I take it in to have it checked or should I take the ferule off and try to straighten it. Or maybe, is alright to fish with it a little bent. I know it will sloww the line down but will it hurt the rod? Any help appreciated.
Oh yeah. The real is a self wind with the trigger. Does any one know when the started making those?
Thanks ;o)
