I thought I was alone when I got started but have found that there are a lot of people who 1)fly fish sometime or 2)always wanted to learn but never had anyone to show them. I have taken fly tying classes at a couple of stores and talked to the people behind the counters till they were sick of me. I have found that there is an organization I could join if I had the time. So... people are out there. Having said that, I fished 3 hours Sat. morning. The lakes were covered with mist. I caught bluegill, baby largemouth and a Big largemouth. Although it was a public place, I did not see another soul for the whole morning. I have had baitcasters tell me that bluegills were biting on worms and have caught them as fast as I could cast without the problem of rebaiting each time. When all is said and done, fly fishing is worth the solitude if you want it and worth the comraderie if you seek it. IMHO.
