Thread: WHite bass

  1. Default WHite bass

I'll be hitting Lake Greenwood dam tail water this sat. in south carolina. Target of fish would be white bass and striper on the fly rod. Any help on flies and color would be greatly appreciated.
    -Thanks.

Try Clouser Minnows in white, chartruese over white, chartruese over pink and olive over white.

    Good luck.

In addition to the colors that FlyCoach listed, I have done well with gray over white and blue over white on our tailwater stripers and hybrids.

Subject says White Bass, stripers would be different. For white bass, I use a white or chartruse marabou streamer, Black Ghost, or White or Chartruse Zonker or Matuka. Get the picture? Minnow profile in white, chart, or yellow.

  6. Default skunk!

No luck at all. Water was high @ 11.57 feet, stained, and discharged @ 4,020 cubic feet per sec.-53 degree water temp. Try clouser minnow in grey/white, black/white, chart./white, chart./yellow and blue/white flashtail. Few spin fisherman hook up with 5 whitebass fishing bobber with chart. feather jig. Very slow day.

    jyfishing,
Maybe you need to use unweighted bugs like flicted mike suggests so you can use a SLOW retrieve in the cold water....?
We usually use heavily collared deceivers to push some water too when it's dirty.
