    Default Black and White fly

I am very curious about the archive and Black and White fly. How is the stripe made on the wing? Stroked in with a sharpie? Exact match of barbules from a white feather and black?

Sharpie would work, but traditionally, the effect is acheived by taking sections of different colored feathers and marrying them together (exact match of barbules, as you said) to form a single, multi-colored wing. It's how they get those gorgeous wings on traditional Atlantic salmon flies.
If it swims and eats, it'll eat a fly.

Diane, you can find the instructions on how to do a married wing (that's the real name) in our Atlantic Tying Series. Have fun!
