    Default Clouser/Deciever Size and Colors?

What size and colors of Clousers, Deceivers (and hybrids of the two) should I tie for use off the coast of Southern Califoria?

Any other ideas for effective patterns?

    Thanks for all response!

Check out the San Diego Fly Fishing Question post...
Though it is written for SD, it will apply to
most beaches in SD, OC, and LA beaches and bays.

My boxes for fishing off of San Diego contain the following (not the same as my beach and bay flies though there is some overlap, for those see the post Wednesday Caster referred to):

Clouser Minnows from size 6 through 3/0 (2"-5" long)in blue/white, green/white, olive/white chartruese/white, pink/white. Used for all species. Tied sparse, full, and in between.

Lefty's Deceivers in sizes 6 through 6/0 (2" to 8") in white, blue/white, green/white, purple/white. Used for all species. Also tied sparse and full.

Clouser Half and Half (clouser/deceiver) in the same colors as above.

Blanton's Flashtail Whistler in 3/0 in grizzly/white, red, white, Chartrues/white, Pink/white, orange/yellow for fishing the kelp forests and boiler rocks and reefs for Calico Bass. Tied with wire snag guards, they go through the kelp fairly well.

    Blanton's Sar-Mul-Mac , sizes 2/0 through 8/0 in greens and blues.

Trey Combs Sea Habit Bucktail in sizes 1/0 through 4/0 in white, green, blue.

Flashy Profile flies in sizes 2 through 6/0. Blues, purples, greens.

Generic angel hair based steamers sizes 8 through 1. Blues, greens.

Crease Flies sizes 2 through 3/0. Blues and Greens.

Gartside Gurglers in sizes 2 through 3/0.

Many, many patterns can be used. I use the above site because they cover my needs and each has characteristics that distinguish it from the others in the water. These have take reef, kelp, and pelagic species for me.

If you had just Clousers and Deceivers in blue and green, you would be well equiped.
