The other day I emailed Sage regarding the advantage of a 9'6" vs 9'. They replied with "Believe it or not... the added length does make a big difference when making roll casts, nymph fishing and from fishing closer to the surface of the water (float tubes, kayaks etc)." All that makes sense to me except nymph fishing and that is because I now absolutely nothing about it. Can someone explain to me nymph fishing and why a longer fly rod would be benefical?
