Hi everyone, I have introduced myself also on warm water board.

Am a "teacher" at work who is learning about fly fishing.

Yesterday hiked into a rather remote stream section--I was by waterfall and about 1/2 mile downstream was a big reservoir, with many trout.

As I tied fly, heard splashing in back of me. Saw three large brown fish. They looked like carp from the top, but then from the side I thought they were brown trout. For one hour I cast streamers at them (had only a 7 wt. rod with sink tip, didn't think I would be stream fishing this day.)

The fish "held" in the riffle just like I've seen in pictures in the book, and there were four or five more hanging by the bank. After I scared them, about six of them went into a hole downstream from a boulder.

They were 2-3 lbs, looked fat (spawning), but trout spawn here in fall.

Went home, thought I had found the a great spot, but two friends familiar with the area pointed out they probably were just "suckers." Am too disappointed to go back, at least today.
