Line Winding Nigthmare
So I recently got into salt FF (specifically halibut) here in So. Cal. I decided to pick up a sinking line and backing for my #8,9 rod to get down to the flatties. Trying a different approach to get the perfect diameter of backing, I wind the new line on to my reel and then the backing to get to the exact diameter I wanted. I intended to unwind this onto a winder and then reload the reel properly. Can you see the problem yet? When I unwind onto the winder the backing goes down first and then line on top- which means that I will end up winding the backing from the inside of the winder. What a mess. I think my BP went up 20 points!
I know JC wrote a something about being frustrated with loading lines but is there a correct way without having a vein pop?!
