Default The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly

The Good: I went on a cold-weather camp-out with my son's Boy Scout Troop this past week-end. Got to spend some quality time with him.

The Bad: Had to pitch the tent on snow. We froze our behinds off at night.

The Ugly: Brought my 3 Weight since we camped right on Castle Creek. We set up camp in the dark and when we got the lantern going, I noticed something sticking out the back of the jeep (with the hatch closed). It was the top half of my rod. Broke it off clean as you please 3 inches from the top.

Never thought I'd be the guy that would do something so dumb, but now I know that I am that guy.

I have a very nice one. It was sitting at home in the basement,.... laughing at me, I'm sure.

    Dumb,
Don't push the "up" button on the passenger side window until you've checked that the top section is not sticking out. Ouch! Fortunately, it was towards the end of the day.

Castle Creek?!? There's all kinds of wild beasties that roam around there at night!! Could a' used the short rod to beat em off!

Got an easy way to fix that rod if you're out of warrenty, or if it's not one of those mega expensive rods. Well, guess it would work on them too, if you're not an ethicist.

If it makes you feel better; car doors happen to the best of us.
Trouts don't live in ugly places.

A friend is not who knows you the longest, but the one who came and never left your side.

Don't look back, we ain't goin' that way.

now it may be a 3/4 wieght.
At least it was close to the tipp .
I've inserted a nail before to splice a rod together just cut the head off the nail and glue it to the inside of the blank then glue the other part of the rod on , but being that close to the tip it would probly not work as good .

Many years ago my wife came home crying and I thought someone had died in our family.
I turned out that because I was lazy about getting my flyrod out of the car, she had accidently slammed my rod tip in the door. I was relieved to find out it was JUST my rod!
Re-attached the tip and good to go!

    Elliot,

Ugly, really ugly. Can you say ouch! Sorry to hear of your pain. Hope the warranty will cover it.
