Thread: Dragons and Damsels in distress...

Default Dragons and Damsels in distress...

    Dragonflies and Damselflies.

Does this help anyone I wonder, coz I have a heap of trouble wokring out the characteristics of each so I discovered this little thing....

"I flattened the fat dragon with a broad sword" helps me remember that the Dragonfly rests with its wings flat, is fatter than a damsel, and the rear wings are broader that the front.

Maybe "Chat up the skinny Damsel" likewise might indicate that the Damselfly is slimmer in the body, and rests with its wings upright.

    Hope this helps somebody.

    Hey Gringo,

I just sort of know what they look like. Your mnemonic devices would give me headaches. It reminds me of the old Danny Kaye movie, The Court Jester. Danny had to remember which cup had been poisoned and came up with the following rhyme, "the flagon with the dragon holds the pellet with the poison and the chalice palace holds the brew that is true." Of course the poison was switched several times and Danny became totally confused by his memory system. 8T
