I like and use the Anvil SlimLine Mini. I also use the end of my whip finisher that I have filed a beveled edge that is very sharp and cuts real close to the thread I have laid down with the finisher.

    Hi Warm Water Fisher,

Several years ago Ronn Lucas suggested to folks to file the tips of their scissors to fine points, if you are good with tools. He also sent pictures of what the tips should look like.

I have done that, and my the tips on my old set of scissors come to a very fine point. You can get in very close with them. (You slope the tips to a sharp point, and also bevel the tips so they slope from the outside of the top of the blade toward the top of the back of the blade. Thus they slope to a point both ways. You do not mess with the cutting edges.

I used my set of needle flies to do the filing.

    Regards,

    Gandolf

Dr. Slick Arrow tips. I just bought a pair about four months ago and I really like them. The tip is narrow enough for no problems. A little on the pricey side for me, but I was a good boy and deserved a present.

Anvil hands down no matter the price. They can't be beat on fine cutting for $17.

I also like the Dr. Slick "arrow-points". I had a pair of the Micro-Tip ones, but it seemed to me that, although the tips came to a much sharper point, they were thicker than the ones on the Arrow-Points.

I've recently been debating about switching to the Carbide Arrow Tips from Dr. Slick, but I'm not sure that I can justify the price on those.

Anvil. They don't look like much, but I treat them like the jewel they are.
