I think it is one of those split cane rods sold by Monkey Wards "Mongomery Wards" in their catelog...many years ago. Their catelog's always gave you three choice of the same product (Good, Better, and Best). Not sure which category your fly rod is. But if it is still fishable, and it has the old silk guides (way to tell is, by the stripping guide size), you can get a Cortland "Sylk" line, and go fishing with it.

I have an old South Bend split cane (Model 52), not one of the Better or Best split canes, that is wonderful fishing with using the Cortland "Sylk" line.

Thank you Cortland for doing this new product line. Your helping to bring old split canes, with the old silk guides, out of the closet (after being in storage for way too long).

Down in the meadow in a little bitty pool
Swam three little fishies and a mama fishie too
"Swim" said the mama fishie, "Swim if you can"
And they swam and they swam all over the dam

Boop boop diddum dadaddum waddum chew!
Boop boop diddum dadaddum waddum chew!
Boop boop diddum dadaddum waddum chew!
And they swam and they swam all over the dam
