Default flys for bones, tarpon in Vieques Feb/Mar.???????

Making my first trip for salt water flats fishing.
Will have a guide but would like to tie some of my own. got plenty of mustad 34007's in 2's,4's,6's.and lots of time to tie. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I would tie up a lot of crazy charley variations and small crab patterns. Remember to tie a few darker colors as well. Had some fish last year at Truneffe that would not touch the tans but jumped on the ones tied with Japanese tunuckie(SP). Wife had her coat altered and could not pass up the chance. The guard hairs were dark brown.

Watch which hook you use on the tarpon. You may want to go to a 3 or 4 x. I sure some of the other guys and gals here can steer you right.

    Have a great time!

Make sure you sharpen the point on the 34007's before tying. Few runs with a diamond sharperner gets them nice and sticky.

I like to use a dremel tool to sharpen my hooks to a needle point. When I showed my brother my trick, he wished he'd had one on the boat he worked on to sharpen those hooks that sharp.
I hold the shank, put the tip on the emery disc, and just give it a twist all the way around.

    Very sharp...

    Bill,

I am going to be in Puerto Rico/Vieques the second week in March. Do you know when and where you will be? Maybe we can fish together.
