    Default Swan Feathers?

What would one do with swan feathers? I think there are some classic salmon patterns that call for them. Anyone know any names?

    Interesting you ask...
I saw some swan fly over the other day ...and wondered about their feathers.
White.... so maybe the best use is to dye them?????

Last year I harvested a Ross Goose, which is white like a swan but a heck of a lot smaller. I have used the feather for wings on wets. I don't know why you couldn't do this with swan feathers as well. I know that if you harvest a swan there are enough feathers on one bird to last one tyer for a lifetime. I picked a couple of them years ago while living in Utah.

Here is a link that has a few flies that call for swan.

Theodore Gordon and his buddy Herman Christian loved to use swan quill slips for their "Bumblepuppy" flies.

Swan feathers can be used in place of Goose Shoulders for building salmon fly wings. They are capable of building larger flies than can be done with Goose......Frank
