This week several news sources reported that there are thousands of dead birds (including loons and other waterfowl) found on the southern shore of Lake Ontario between Rochester and Oswego. Reports are that the cause is from the fish eaten by the birds. It seems that many Lake Ontario fish have a form of botulism. Most advice out there says that it's probably a bad idea to eat any Lake Ontario fish right now, including those running up the creeks. To verify, just Google "Lake Ontario botulism" and be careful out there!
