Bass and Panfish still hitting in Illinois

Went out Friday evening and still caught shallow water bass and panfish, even though air temps were hovering around 50, and the water was freezing cold. Surprisingly, the fishing still picked up when the sun started dipping below the horizon, I would have expected the fish/bugs would have been more active while the sun was higher on colder day.

I also went fishing Friday afternoon by Grayslake Il. The gills and bass were still hitting in the shallow flats and the bite was best about an hour before sundown. I think this latest cold front is going to slow down the bite. I won't have a chance to get out again until next week but I think the gill and bass will get alot harder to catch.
