    Default Sucker Spawn

Who originated it and when? In the origin...is it the same as the Carpet Fly?

Not sure who originated the pattern but it is a Great Lakes steelhead pattern that has since been adopted by a lot of folks in my area as well. Effective pattern tied in original or traditional globug colors.

Thanks. I am very familiar with the pattern, but I'm interested in it's origins.

    Try this:

    http://flyfishersparadise.com/

    - click on "Articles" tab at the bottom of the page.
    - scroll down to "Complete Index of Site Articles"
    - click on view the Archive
    - click the "Fly Patterns" tab at the top.
    - scroll down to "Sucker Spawn" and click on it.

I can believe this article as the Fisherman's Paradise section of Spring Creek was the very first flyfishing only section in the country.

Hee-hee. I frequent Dan and Steve's site. Dan's article from a number of years ago does not discuss the originator like Steve usally does. Perhaps he/they do not know it either.

    Appreciate the reply!
