Just got back from Cablelas, the bargain cave to be exact...got a deal I hope on a pair of breathable waders...they look like the cabeleas version of the G3's...they were marked $51.99...from the normal price of $300.oo...the lill tag said returned for leak...I looked them over could not find a rip ect...took them home filled them up with a gal. of milk and twisted the boot part no leak there..now my question...I remember hearing about something to do with alcohol and checking for a leak..what is the trick?...i have already tried the dark room and flash light thing..anyone ever hear of the alcohol trick?

    Hey FP,
The alcohol remedy is quite simple. Just before donning the suspected leaky waders, take a 12 oz glass , fill with ice and pour in finest scotch whiskey to cover ice. Put to lips and drink heartily. When glass is empty, repeat the procedure. Two of these should solve the problem. Your waders will still leak, but you'll care a whole lot less.

    Ah Marco,

I need to try that with the Cubs! Did you make it out this way?

Just an FYI: The info that came with my Sims waders says the alcohol trick only works with gore tex waders. So according to them it won't work on their freestone waders which are breathable but not gore tex. I don't know if that's true or not. I'm just repeating what I read.

I'm glad your waders don't leak. Sounds like you got a great bargain.
