Default Connecting to the Chat Room

This is the message I get when TRYING to connect to the FAOL Chat Room. Does ANYONE know what this means? I have been unable to access ( probably lucky for FAOL) that site ever. On the other, hand when I was in California with this same computer and using the same ISP, IT WORKED. SO WHAT's UP WID DAT??

    Volano Chat Server

    Unable to Connect
    Problem
The VolanoChat applet failed to connect to the VolanoChat server either because the server has reach its capacity or because the server is temporarily down.

    Solution
Wait a few minutes and try again.

    If that didn't work ...
You may be trying to connection through an HTTP proxy server. The VolanoChat applet cannot connect to the VolanoChat server through an HTTP proxy server since it doesn't communicate using HTTP. Try switching the connection to a SOCKS proxy server or try using a network address translating (NAT) router for your firewall, if either of those options are available for you. VolanoChat works fine through firewalls using SOCKS or NAT. Your network administrator may be able to help you change your settings to work with VolanoChat.

    Hi Marco,

What a pain! I'd be upset. Wish I could help ya. JC and LF are at the fishin
this weekend. I believe they might be able
to shed some light on the problem. My gut
feel is it is probably your ISP. AOL? *G*
Either that or your Java program needs to
be upgraded. Sorry buddy. Wish I could
    help. Warm regards, Jim

PS: Pain isn't really that bad though. I will pull through, I'm sure

The most common cause is your computer 'preferences' are set for high security, or
do not accept Java is checked. You could try resetting the security to 'low' or downloading the JAVA program recommended on the ChatRoom page.

    Marco,
Don't know if this will help you, but I'll throw it in there anyhow!
I couldn't get into the chat room, and found I needed upgrades to Java, and to the base computer (Cripe! it was only 10 years old! you'd think with what they cost, they'd last longer!)
    I bought a new computer!
(And downgraded the old one for the grandkids to use...the prekindergarten ones....the older ones are so much beyond my capabilities, even this new machine probably wouldn't be able to do what they need).
One of these first nights I'm going to actually sign on and visit!
Have you tried to reinstall the system? Sometimes little bits and pieces get lost when a machine is moved (I think the parts fall out the little hole when the plug comes out...just kidding!). On my Mac I could reinstall the system and bring back any library that had been lost.

A friend is not who knows you the longest, but the one who came and never left your side.

Don't look back, we ain't goin' that way.

Are you leaving the browser window open to the chat menu/schedule page while using the Java "Angler's Hut" pop-up window? You need both to chat.
