Lower Illinois River

Went down Saturday morning and had the worst trip ever there.I think Tenkiller is turning over from the looks of the water,also had a real bad smell to it.Saw 3 fish caught ,I fished about 2 hours and left.

Hey, saw your post. I am in Tulsa and fish the lower illinois quite a bit (although I haven't been there for a few weeks). What were you using down there. I have always had wonderful luck with a size 16 or 18 zebra(black or olive).

I love the lower Illinois for what its worth. It gets overlooked alot here in OK (a fact of which I am not complaining, ahhahha).

I fish it about every other week and the when all else fails the fly of choice is a size 16 or 18 Zebra Midge in Black! Seems like I catch more fish than I can count but... Last week was the worst trip I ever had and I only netted 5 fish. 3 - 5 weeks ago though it was fishing great!

Just got home from there,friend caught 4 6 to 8 inchers son caught 4 8 inchers plus a 15 incher while I was getting bit but could not hook up.D id finally catch 1 14 incher all were caught in dries.
