I went out to the park today to practice my casting. I was excited because I'd be casting my new sage for the first time. I forgot to check the line before leaving home. When I got there I found that the line on the reel was a dull grey colored sinking line. It was not the bright yellow highly visible floating line I had intended on bringing so I could see what the heck I was doing. I decided to try a few casts anyway.
The sun was very bright making the grey line impossible to see. I couldn't really even make it out when it landed on the grass. It turned out to be a blessing in disguise. I had to go by feel instead of by sight. I got a much better idea of the loading and unloading that was happening which helped me to cast a little better. An nice unexpected bonus that I backed into by fluke.
