    Default SA Combo/Walmart

Remember rather recently comments re: Scientific Angler fly combo being sold at Walmart in the $60.00 range with at least one favorable comment. But, can't locate anything on the BB re same. If my recollection serves me well, also think I read that this particular rod casts and handles like a top of the line/name rod. Can anyone give me their personal views on this rod combo? Thinking about getting one for my son.
    Thanks,
    Crackleback/Bob A

Don't waste your money, it's a piece of junk. I guarantee it is doesn't break you from the desire to fly fish, it will end up in the garbage can in a year.

Some of the combos I would look at are the Redington Crosswater, St. Croix Premier and Cortland CL combos. I have seen all of them for between $100 and $150. That's about the least I would go.

wow...I wrote a lot about it. It was the one I used for my casting program at the 'Fish In' in Michigan. They all thought I was using a custom rod. At Wallmart there are two. One for $59.95,, you put the line one it. The other is 'ready to fish', for $63.95. I could fish either (they are the same) willingly. Don"t think of any combo that can compare any where near the price. I ordered two more for Idaho.

I have yet to see any junk from S.A. These combos may not be not pretty, but are effective ff tools.

    Carckleback,

A good friend of mine has had one for 3 1/3 years. He fishes at least once a week and then hangs it in his shed, real careful so it won't get scratched. He seems to be getting more and more passionate about flyfishing. I'd say he totally happy with his outfit.

It opens the door for more people to give Fly Fishing a go. What more could you want. It's tough to get a young family (youth in particular) involved that might work harder for their dollar than the guy who can go out and buy a Sage. I can also think of those retired folks on fixed incomes, or Scouts trying to earn a badge. Hats off to SA and Walmart for working that one out. It's helping more to find there way to the fly rod. That is not a bad thing.
