When you are finishing up tying a trout fly (I'm not talking about fancy salmon flies), is your main concern having the perfect looking head or just getting a good whip finish and not covering up the eyelet?

Joe;
I'd have to say the latter! I did learn a method from WarrenP that does both, just haven't mastered it yet!!
Joe a small head,good whip finish and yes, not covering the eyelet BILL
It is easy to do both. So why not do so. And keep the heads small at the same time. Ron
a properly applied whip finish should result in a nice tidy little head.
The head with whip finish should be no more then 7 wraps.
