Had a great time over labor day in the canyon. I had heard it wasn't fishing well. Wrong. Maybe it was the cold front that came through.

Nice mix of rainbows, browns and even a cutbow or two. Nothing over 15 inches, but it was still good fun. Olive wooly bugger and a weird bead head damsel/bugger pattern with copper wire in the collar (from Angler's covey in Co Springs) were the flies of the day. Sz 18 miracle nymphs, scuds, and barrs emergers also produced well. I found I did better without an indicator. Maybe these fish are wary of them?

Happy Meadows stretch (towards Tarryal) was more difficult fishing (but more rewarding in that sense). Healthy rainbows to be had on tricos, adams and caddis. Too much weed in the river for effective nymphing or streamers - unless you like cleaning your fly every cast.

Hope this helps out anyone else going up the Lake George area soon.
