Thread: I Wish (or what I'd like the board to look like tomorrow)

Default I Wish (or what I'd like the board to look like tomorrow)

This section of the bb "FAOL Community" with "Fly Anglers On Line" and "Sounding Off" were at the top of the list. So I would not have to scroll down.

(promoted to sticky (stay at top) and embelished comment --Ron--

I agree. But, we being creatures of habit may then miss some important announcements. That may be why the sysadmin set it up that way. I do like the new format that we were warned about at the Fish-In.

    Default Challenges.

Ultimately the editor has the final say.
I do have a little leeway at the moment though.

    Here are my mandates:
    * Make it more usable.
    * Make it easy to get to the data my customers want.
    * Set it up so it is easier to post to the right forums than not.
    * Set it up so users don't get "blinders" on and forget about the other forums.
(that blinder part is telling of JC's age me thinks )

    So Look over the categories.
Tell me what is missing or how YOU would set it up and still meet my design goals.
I'll let it stand for the week as is. Then after the contest rollover I will evaluate the reams of feedback here and see what suggestions make sense and which ones make the bird cage. (Hey.. my ideas are gettin awful lonely under polly...)

So, we click on YOUR profile up there, then flood your 'Private Message' box if we don't like something, right?

    Ah...
But you forget who can redirect all mail and private messages to *your* box.

Not even touching the ability to put the editor's face on the Chat room frog.

Please just post rants HERE. That is what this forum is for after all.

Since you seem to appreciate feedback, here's some on the latest changes. Overall I approve, but two "bad" things happened.

The "jump to" box moved from the bottom to the top of the page. Liked it better at the bottom where I could "jump" after exploring the page. Now I have to scroll back up to jump. Much less convenient. It was much better at the bottom of the page.

When you click on the "jump to" it now drops down a menu that is organized by general category, but that organizing means that you now have to scroll through the drop down menu to see it all. Much less convenient than before when you could see all the sub-boards and just click on the one you wanted.

Hate to sound so critical. I'm really impressed with the improvements in the board and just want to help make it as good as it can be with some feedback.

You're very welcome, JC, and glad you took it the way it was intended.

I use a mouse with a scroll wheel, which really makes these changes important. Very easy to scroll down with the wheel; harder to scroll up. The former way took 5 finger movements to review a page and jump to a new one. The new way takes 9 finger movements. That's why I like the former way.
