    Default Orvis Sinking line tips

Has anybody ever used those sinking line tips from Orvis? It appears that you attach to the tip of your floating line using a loop to loop connection. I bought a couple for use later this year, they were on sale. Eventually I need to get an extra spool or two, but it is not in the budget for a while.

They work ok. Youll get an extra foot or two in stillwater. A little less in moving water.

I have had a set for about 10 years. They do ok in a pinch and give you flexibility with one spool and a floating line. Convenient to use and easy to store They mess up that nice taper in your floating line and can be a bit awkward to cast, especially for longer casts. You can also add them to a sink tip line to get a longer sink tip section.

A purpose designed multi-tip line will perform better but also cost a lot more.

Basically I consider the Orvis or similar tips to be less than ideal but still useful and they have a place in my collection of gear.
