Hey check out the "Scarry Heddon" post. It covers much of what you'll need to do. The tip off should not be an added problem. Just glue all the sides secure-wrap and the replace guides. I would recommend to remove the 2nd guide to see if the split continues under the guide. Better to fix the split than cut off a broken section.
