Great product God luck.
Got the skins today. They look great. Can't wait to get to the bench and tie up some soft hackles and nymphs..
Great bug, very nicely tied, excellent SBS.
I will be trying to reproduce a dozen tomorrow. Wish me luck.
PM on skins sent.
I will take the Grizzlies neck.
Been there done that, (a few times)
Use mine for BWO nymphs.
Actually it is closer to four pounds.

Weight? I guess about 5 pounds. It's heavier than the stock Rinzetti base. It doesn't move around when I'm butchering ( attempting to tie ) a basic fly pattern. A little heavy to be portable.
Made mine. One inch aluminum, with a magnet inserted (under the hooks). Went with gloss white to reflect light.
Rinzetti traveler. Hands down best vise for the money. (IMHO)
Nice pictures, good story. BUT:
If I were the person that lived there, I would NOT want pics of my house and directions to get there posted on the web.
I tie theses in green,
Humpy, madam x, Turks tarantula and always the green drake.
For nymphs, green copper john, pheasant (in olive actually) tail and woolly bugger.
I fish theses...
I pretty much tie that same fly, with a dark head. Just change the body color per bug. Olive, tan, grey, white or yellow. Covers all my may fly needs. I find color not as important as size or shape.
SBS would be great .
Even I could catch with those.
I tie almost that exact fly, (October caddis), just add a simple sparse black soft hackle.
This fly is a killer swung for cuts, I landed a 10lb steelhead on that fly also. More fancy doesn't...
Very nice. I tie something close to that, but not nearly as elegant.
Those are some smart looking vise jaws, might I inquire as to their make?
Never been to a fish in. Would love to.
What what waters do you all fish that are near by?
Are "barley pops or assorted fermented grape beverages" allowed? ( in moderation of...
That fly will catch fish.
That being said, I am not a fan of CDC feathers on a dry fly. If not very careful the CDC gets wet and the fly rides low in the water. Sometimes a fly " half sunk in the...
No names, that was not the point of this thread. I do have other hackle from the same brand and it is GREAT, also, the dealer I bought them from is wonderful and I have had very good experiences...
I have been trying your suggestions over the last couple of days. The grizzly hackle is hopeless. The steaming of the feathers is the only thing that worked to some extent. But what...
The grizzly feathers twist horribly no matter the base, be it bare hook, dubbing or parachute post. I have tried everything. Hackle pliers, stripping one side, "pre bending",twisting the opposite...
Good morning ,
I have a couple of expensive skins that the feathers twist horribly when I wrap them. Nothing I do helps. One is my "high grade" grizzly the other a nicely colored furnace hackle....
