That may be the case. As I said before, the guide was very particular about where he wanted us to stand.
The boat was flowing downstream, but I understand your point.
If I remember correctly, my friend performed one reach cast. The guide immediately corrected him and told him to do it the...
Definitely not know-it-alls. :D We told him upfront that we were not trout experts and wanted to learn.
We did not ask why. I was in the front of the boat, so all this literally happened "behind...
As my friend said, our guide was a bit "prickly". In his defense, I think that was partially due to not having a day off in over a month.
As you note, maybe an aerial mend was not aggressive...
He was very particular where we stood in the boat, but I don't think that was it.
I visited Yellowstone NP recently (my first time, beautiful country.)
I'm not much of a trout guy, but my buddy and I decided to take a drift boat trip. We were throwing a lot of dry flies, and...
I wear a manual PFD when tubing. Very light and doesn't interfere with casting.
I've been going back and forth on how to spend that $16 million I have laying around. I am conflicted no more!
Interesting that Penn State didn't make the list. George Harvey (and later Joe Humphreys) taught a legit fly fishing class to thousands of students.
Crappie rods only cost $40-50, so they clearly cannot be used for fly casting.
Thanks. I thought I had read it on Blanton's board. I seem to remember another thread where he was a little more critical of it.
I did not see tedshuck's comment, but maybe I don't know how to...
I have been using the Orvis knot for quite awhile. I think it's easier to tie than the DK and at least as strong.
Bill Nash, the late West Coast knot guru, found some flaw with the DK and...

I have both a BPS and a Cabela's about twenty minutes away. Both parking lots are full whenever I go, so I don't know why they'd close either one.
Here's the story from USA Today:

FWIW, I buy at least 90% of my fly gear from BPS or Cabela's.
On another board, Bill Gammel was raving about the Echo Base.
Interesting, particularly his comments on fly fishing industry mistakes at the end.
I'm not a knot-tying wizard by any stretch, but I think it's very easy to do with the Tie-Fast tool the guy is using in the video. The Tie-Fast tool rules.
If the line does not come with a loop, I do this:

I tried it once out of my tube. I caught some fish, but it was not a fun experience.
I fish when I can. That's generally in the middle of the day.
The heat can be brutal, but you usually have the fish to yourself.
I like the Flexi Stripper. Been using it for years.
