Thanks,

Could anyone point me to information on how to clean rust from antique reels without degrading their value? I have some reels with some surface rust, no pitting, that I need to restore. I don't...

Fairbanks, going on three years now.
My first outfit was a Shakespeare combo that came in a shrink wrap package. Rod, reel and line included. The rod was fiberglass, the reel was plastic, real plastic, and the line was, well, I don't...
Ordered my Razor Foam about 5 min. ago. Can't wait! I think this will be an excellent fly for grayling here in Fairbanks. Thanks for sharing it David.

Fish slime, plasic fly boxes, waders after 6 months of storage.
Ahhhh!! Great stuff!

I just built a 9' 8wt on a Dan Craft blank for my father-in-law, and I'm starting on another for myself. I used the single foot ceramic insert guides. They really look nice on the rod. I...

Back in July, I began posting information on the killing of a Sow Brown bear in the Russian/Kenai River area. Last I heard, out of the three cubs she had, two are still in the area. Its been a big...
By your request Mr. Castwell.
UPDATE:
The man charged with shooting a brown bear sow with three cubs on the Russian river entered a plea of NOT GUILT. Here's the full update from the Anchorage...
The person responsible for the shooting of the sow brown bear at the Russian River has been charged. The cubs are doing fine for now, but have been a little mischievous.

Seems we are starting the blame game. The lastest article blames the fishery and the way its managed for the death of the bear. The point may be valid, but policy, any policy is easy to establish,...
Some new information surfaced today, but not enough to pinpoint a suspect.

Although its not fly fishing related, my current "nemesis" is the Kenai river. I've lived in Alaska since 2003 and fished the Kenai two summers in a row for Kings. The summer of 2004, hooked a...
Grew up in E.KY and went to college at EKU. I didn't start buying chinelle until I moved to Alaska. Just go to your local dept store's craft section and buy one of those huge rolls of yarn. You...

I built a 9' 4wt on a Forecast blank over the winter. I love the rod. The action is nice and soft and it casts just beautifully. I use it for grayling here in Fairbanks. I paid $16 for my...

I've watched and have been a fan of Coach Knight for years. Regarless of what you think of the guy, he's a great basketball coach and, as I've also heard, a great fly fisherman. It's just a thrill...
While I was in college, I found the WW Grigg website and thought I would try one of their rods. I placed my order with the online retailer they were using at the time, but never recieved my rod. My...
