i live in houston and have been doing the urban fly fishing thing...mainly the bayous, drainage 'ditches' and park ponds...for the past couple of years.

i would say the number one...

i'm not sure i'd 'villainize' all carp species because of the jumper.

if they aren't nose down in 'rooting' on the bottom, or sipping stuff off the top, they probably arent feeding, and not likely to be hooked.

i fish urban waters here in houston (various bayous / drainage ditches / culverts) and carp are one of the few species that can do all right in those not-pristine environments.

actually gets me...

im definitely not an expert...but i've had best luck when i'm targeting actively feeding fish.

cruising, holding, or fish doing anything besides either actively taking surface fodder or nose down...

As a fellow houstonian (at the moment) I can tell you that carp reside in all the forgotten waterways in the city.

It also depends on the TFO model.

the Series 1 rods are a bit heavy, the pro models feel lighter. I'm assuming the TiCR are on par with others in that price range.
