Thanks I think I'm going to use this stuff.
Has anybody used this for coating the wraps? I want to get a thin layer of "varnish" on the wraps on my fiberglass fly rod. How does the permagloss look and perform? Thanks
My dad , brother and I want to start spey casting this year, but we're uncertain what rods to buy. We want rods ~300 dollars each. We will be spey casting for large trout, some freshwater stripers,...
Thanks for the links.
Does anyone have a good recipe for small streamers for trout? Any pics would be helpful.
brown wooly bugger w/dumbell eyes and a pair of feathers for the tail
I use a plain non-scented white candle.
Thanks, I'm sure both options will still look good. I think the rope knurling looks more "twisted" than the diagonal.
Can anyone tell me the difference btwn diagonal and rope knurling? I wan't to get the CRN reelseat from REC, but don't know the difference. Also, What's the difference btwn the oval and mortised...
OK. Thanks.
I want to put a wood downlocking reelseat with slidebands on a fly rod, but I'm a bit concerned that the reel will slide off the reel seat. Are there any ways to prevent this, or are there no reasons...
I remember seeing a classic fly that used a fish scale as a wing. I forgot the name though...
I like that rod. What thread are you using for the translucent wraps? Also, isn't it hard to get the small thread wraps on that unsanded blank?
I'm wanting to get me a 2 wt. from steffan.
Thanks for all the replies. I was fishing small dries and they seemed to sink more than usual. Maybe I should use more gink.
I make my own leaders and came up with this question. I was fishing with a thread 6/0 uni-thread leader for dry flies, and the leader sank. I put on some mucilin, but it still sank. So, is the wax on...
I'm gonna get the 6'6 3 wt. 3 piece.
Thanks for the imput. I decided to just get a lamiglas blank, though.
I chose fiberglass over graphite simply because I like their action. i believe graphite rods are a bit too fast and light. I like slow rods because they can protect my tippet, they feel nice to cast,...
I want to get a new rod for the mountains. I love slower actions. I would like a 2-3 weight short rod. It should be packable (backpacking), and strong. I fish mostly dry flies or subsurface flies. I...
I have an old pflueger medalist made in usa No.1495, and I would like to know if I can use a NEW reel spool to use on my old reel. If I can't, Is there a place I can buy the old spools?
I think my hands are the best tools for doing that.;)
I love fishing droppers in the mountains.:D
The whole feathers are way better than the packaged herls. I think that the tying companies get the strung herls from damaged or weak feathers.
Has anybody used the Redington SV reels?
I've heard some bad reports on them.:(
