I happen to like them, but Avalon is right about geting things caught in the footbed. But, I think he is wrong abotu the toe protection.
I wear a pair of booties when I wet wade, so it's not a big...
In my opinion, all you need to look at is the new Fisknat nets. Get one with the new, lightweight, rubber bag.
They are great to look at and even better when there is a fish in bottom of it.
I think it would work very well. I prefer a Sage for the larger stuff, but I love my G2s in smaller sizes.
I have tried the Scott in heavier weights and they felt pretty darned good. The Sage...
An hour west of Ft. Collins? How do you get enough electricity to run your computer? :D
Steve,
I'll be on he Big Thompson this weekend and the Colorado , Roaring Fork and Frying Pan next...
Well..... He was somewhat right.
Just as an example, the Sage 590 weighs 3.25 oz and the Sage 590-4 weighs 3.5 oz. That's only 1/4 oz, but it is something.
I prefer 3 or 4 piece rods myself...
If you are not set on catching a "real" salmon, I'd head to the Pere Marquette river in western Michigan.
Take a look at http://www.pmlodge.com/ They do a bang up job. Also if a group of you are...
I'm headed to the book store this afternoon.
Along that line, has anyone else read John Gierach's "Fishing Bamboo"? It's very good as well.
Take a look at TACH-IT. They make, or used to make, a flybox that clipped to your vest that has holes in teh side to allow air to circulate around the flys, but keeps them covered so they won't blow...
No Betty, a couple of bucks will NOT kill me. I just hate to waste resources.... paper, CDs etc, when I could do it online.
Geeze, I never expected a response like that.
Hi everyone....
I would like to get my hands on one of the FAOL Fly Tying CDs, but I really hate the exense and overhead to get it.
Is there some way to just download it?
And, no, I'm not...
That's very interesting...
I meet Lefty twice and he was always a jerk. That's the one reason I refuse to try a TFO.
Maybe it's just me.....
I ONLY use the LAs now. In my opinion, they are the only way to go.
Not only do I think they balance out the rod better, the line tends to have "looser" coils.
He was a riot.....
How about Ed Zern???
He is/was one of the best!!!!
I don't like to use the pumps.
First, in the hands of the untrained, you can kill a fish.
Second, a fish has been feeding for hours and it is caught. The fish's stomach is pumped, now it has...
I have a somewhat bad back and have found a couple of things that really make a difference....
1) If you have a vest that has straps over the shoulders, get rid of it. That cleared up most of my...
I only use Rio. I've used it for years and I think it outlasts anythng else on the market.
And to answer questions that I know will pop up, yes I have used almost every product on the market over...
I really hate to say this, but Powell has a long way to go to get me back as a customer.
I have had problems with them in the past.
I wonder what sets this reel apart? It seems like a low end...
I like small crawfish patterns, but the bugger is hard to beat.
There is a good book called "Carp on the Fly" by Barry Reynolds that is WELL worth the read.
The Duck, the Elk and the Caney Fork are all good fisheries. I used to live in Nashville and fished them all a lot as well as guiding on them.
The only real issue would be the generation schedule....
Hi Brian,
Drop me an email.... We can meet up in Estes and I'll tell you everything I know. That should take 10 minutes or so.
I live near Denver and there are some VERY good lakes to fish down...
I would go with a 9' (NO shorter than 8 1/2') in a 5wt, medium action. 4pc is the only way to go.
In 40 years of fly fishing and teaching hundreds of folks to fish, that seems to be the best (at...
Or, you could contact me. :D I guide in the Park and I'm just full of information (some will say I'm full of other things, too).
October is great out here, and with the water we have this year,...
Try taking a clear plastic bubble, coat half of it with black paint and put that on a hook. You have to slide them over the hook eye. The bubble is more oval than round. I put a couple of legs on the...
You didn't see a baseball floating close by, did you??
