Wow!! GREAT FISH!
I can honestly say I have never fished an emerger pattern. To help out a person like myself, how do the patterns vary between "surface" emergers and "bottom" emergers?
Nice pictures. Thanks for the report.
Sweet fish!!!
I have my first chance (in many years) to fish a western river this July. I can't wait to tie on an FEB hopper. They look great on my vise- I am sure the fish will like them.
Great fish! I am still waiting to catch my first striper on the fly.
I just wanted to say thanks to a fine sponsor of FAOL, The Bearlodge Angler. Last week I was in search of materials and the only place I could find the specific colors and size was on The Bearlodge...
Here is a great booklet published by the state of Nebraska about stocking and managing ponds. There is a lot of great information there.

Here's a pic I took this summer at a local public lake. The sun is rising behind me as the moon sets through a big oak.

Well I got the idea from the Drifting Oligochaete Worm found in the FOTW archives. Check the 4th quarter of 2003. The pictures show pink and red patterns and I did land a couple fish on a pink...
Great looking flies Steve. Where can one buy Fuzzy Leech Yarn?
I had to get out today since we had a high of almost 70 degrees and there was no generation in the tailwater I fish. I arrived at the Lower Illinois River as the sun rose. It took me awhile to figure...
Great pictures! I especially like the clarity of the last two. And, as always, great post.
OBG-
Okieland is great. I am only lacking fishing opportunities right now. The amount of water is not a problem, it is the lack of time that has me looking forward to fall break.
You must be...
Roger-
Since this is the second time I have seen this pic I have to say, GREAT FISH :D . Furled leader or no?
Thanks for the great information. Now to clarify-- I currently do have backing, line and reel on the rod. In my previous post I meant that I would like it to balance with fly line in the guides. That...
I have a 5 weight rod with an uplocking reel seat. The balance point is currently 3-4 inches in front of the cork and I would like to move it back to my index finger- about 6 inches over all. Are...
As far as strength of furled leaders is concerned, I think one that the tighter and more even the leader is furled, the stonger it will be overall.
Most of my leaders are furled out of polyester...
I have been furling for probably 3 weeks- with about 20-25 fishable leaders under my belt. I originally started off with the Coats & Clark nylon, then moved to polyester thread and 2# Berkley XL. The...
