Hello fellow fly anglers. I?m looking for a fly reel for surf fishing, preferably a large arbor, sealed drag and decent drag reel. The catch is that due to the current situation I can only trade. ...
yeah, they sure look pretty but they are bulky. I make my own leather treatment and it repels water up to a point. I found some ship skin, I just haven't had the drive to finish it.
My local fly shop carries several options, I'll update when I decide what to get.
Thanks all for your input.
My boys are now very interested in fly fishing and they are asking me about a set up. They are 11 so I'm not sure there is a rod length I should consider since they are short, does that even matter?...
Awesome packs. Very comfortable.
I agree with that, currently I have them in a couple of plastic boxes which work fine but I guess I wanted to make one just for the heck of it, I might end up using it for my trout flies. I use a...
I'm making a leather fly wallet for my bass bugs but I need ideas. I'm debating if I should use sheep or foam, either or...where on earth do I buy patches of sheep wool? If I use foam, what type of...
I know, sure glad to be back.
Thanks Bikebum, which one is it that I sold you? I was looking at the William Joseph website yesterday and it's gone, looks like sadly the company is done.
Glad to hear the good news, I'm back as well. Last time we spoke I was trying to pick up a good knife...many years later I can say I developed a taste for custom made bushcraft knifes but also those...
I gave up fishing due life, craziness and many other reasons. My boys are now 11yo and after a trip to Mammoth/Yosemite they got me back into fishing, I found myself buying gear again (baitcasters)...
Thanks a lot ma'am. Can't wait to shake off this cold to hit the water again.
I will confess, I do toss a lure every now and then and I prefer bait casters over open face reels, this one even comes with a clicker so maybe I'll toss it with bait while I flick flies this Summer....
I found this little beaut at a Salvation Army, bought it for $ 5, cleaned it, lubed it and all. Do you guys know anything about this little old reel?
...
Thank you sir.

Nice reels, I've meaning to get me one one of these days.
Thanks and great pix as always.
Hey Fly Goddess, is that red reel an Allen reel? It looks really nice and congrats on the big carp.
Martin
I fly fish for carp during the hot weather, I'm located in So Cal and have had luck with hare's ear nymphs, carp candy and like said before here, they will go for anything trout like. Catching carp...
I got me that buff last time I went to bps, I put it in my fly fishing pack and forgot about it...you reminded me of it. That'll do until I find me a hat. Thanks!
hey Fly Goddess, I like that one hat. What brand is it and where can I get it? Thanks!
Sooo many options!! Thanks guys.
Hello everybody,
I'm sure this subject has been discuss before but I wasn't able to find anything about it here. I'm looking for a hat to use while fly fishing, I don't know much about them but...
I did skip a few issues I am dealing with that have made my life a bit hellish, maybe you're not that off target as you might think. I just didn't want to start talking about personal stuff. Thanks...
Weather here in SoCal is fine, a bit chilly today but last week we had a couple of 80 degree days. Problem is that I just can't force myself to buy it, I don't think I'm giving up on fly fishing...
