I'm always in the gun market, whatcha got?
I hope this doesn't mean I have to start drinking Scotch http://www.flyanglersonline.com/bb/smile.gif
My latest 4 weights (2 in about as many weeks) are a TXL and a Bamboo rod.
I think in the Sage TXL I have found perfection. Though I do see the need for one slightly longer.
This is pennies...
Everything is at a much slower pace and you can control where it goes goes even in mid cast, if that makes sense. I am certain I am not expressing it correctly.
Here is his e-mail address. This...
I have more 4 weights in my inventory then any other weight (4 to be exact). Two are 7' and two are 7 1/2'. Exactly how many 4 weights between 7-7 1/2' does a person need? I can't seem to say no to...
I received a 7 1/2' 4 weight rod from Chris McDowell (Blitzen Rods) on Friday. Spent some time at a local lake the past 2 days and am very pleased with the rod.
Not only is this my first bamboo...
I don't have the rod yet, but at the moment a Ross Colorado #1 is the front runner. I have a nice little Bauer M1 that I use for my other 4 weights but it might look out of place.
No go on the...
I hope both of you are correct. I have a couple of rods to "break" in this year. Me thinks the bamboo will get the nod.
It can't get here soon enough, there are Rainbows and Dollies just waiting...
Should be in my hands within a week. I have never cast a bamboo rod but thought it was time. I hope this isn't the beginning of another habit I can't afford.
The maker is Chris McDowell in Eugene,...
Yep, I got the 7'9" 5 weight Finesse in last week and it is a dandy little rod.
Me thinks the 7 1/2' 8 weight will be next. I love short rods.
If you are, where? I am in Ketchikan, just curious what Alaska folks are out there.
See ya
My father, period.
He always had time to take his good looking son fishing. It has been 36 years since I caught my first fish with dad and 18 years since his death.
I wish I could have shared...
P.S. It is a win-win situation. Bob send me the rod with the one stipulation. If you like it send me a check, if you don't return the rod. Nice guy.
I bought a 8'6" 7 weight from Bob about 3 years ago and picked up an 8 weight second hand.
I really enjoy the 7weight (just got the 8, haven't cast it yet). It has a nice moderate feel and is very...
Thanks for the review. I am a fairly fast rod kinda guy. That said, I also enjoy the slower ones. I think it is exactly what I am looking for.
Sounds like it should be similar to a Superfine.
Don't sweat the little stuff. It's just JC's "charming" personality....
After years of not being anywhere NEAR a flyshop I managed to try out some rods.
Mostly Sage rods (XP,TXL,FLI,TCR) some Orvis T3's and Loomis GLX. I only played with rods in the 3-5 weight range....
I have their 7 1/2' 3 weight.
I thought something a little slower might be nice for lazy fishing the streams for trout here in SE AK.
Clouser flies are easy to tie and fish well. Replace the dumbell eyes with beadchain for shallow water.
I have a foundness for bendbacks also.
That said I also LOVE the Eatme fly. Scott...
We shall see. I just ordered a 4pc 7'9" 5 weight TFO Finesse. I'll let you know how it works out on some Alaskan rainbows and cutts....
Anyone play with a Finesse rod yet?
As luck would have it there IS a fly shop. I didn't know of it's existence until yesterday. Though I think it might be a seasonal thing.
I tried a 5pc 5weight Stowaway last year and it was to tip...
In search of a new rod. Looking for a 8' or so 5 weight 4 piece rod.
In the 6 weight and under that I have that I REALLY like are a 9' 4pc 6wt Sage RPL and a 3pc 7 1/2' 4wt Loomis GL3.
I would...
