Half hitch tools usually come in a cheap set of various sizes. The end hole actually holds enough paint with one dip to do two or more round eyes at a time.

When I 1st started tying I didn't whip finish but used half hitch tools.
If you did the same...don't let 'em' tools collect dust as they do a much better job putting on painted eyes then anything...
