Draggerman,
Great looking flies - I especially like the cascade. I have never fished it on the Margaree before; have you ever had any luck with it there?

Draggerman, your description of the Margaree couldn't be more right at the moment. The Hatchery Pool is also holding many fish but they seem difficult to raise with such low water.
Jeff, great flies as usual. I've heard that green flies work well on the Saint Mary's and I noticed you tied a Cosseboom and a Green Highlander. Do you agree with this saying? And yes, I did have a...
Excellent idea. I had to buy some velcroe as soon as I saw this. I even tried mounting them horizontally, with a piece of velcroe at each end.
Thanks, Logan
WWDoak in New Bruswick seems to carry claret hen necks.

Nice flies Jeff! I know I still use these older patterns for brook trout here in NS, and many are my go-to patterns, like the Dark Montreal and Silver Butcher.
Thanks for sharing,

I thought it would be interesting to see some pictures of peoples' fly boxes. Any flies that you tied up over the winter, the fall, or older flies that you'd like to show. Even a collection of your...
Plunker,
The Atlantic Tying Series here is great, but I found most of my problems were resolved and my questions were answered through books. I recieved Dick Talleur's "Pretty and Practical Salmon...
Thanks for the comments guys. It'll be nice to give them a try this summer. But there are lots more to be tied before then! Nice flies too ROR-EYE.

Here are some black bears that I tied withtin the last few days. This is my second year at tying so I am still trying to get the hang of these basic flies.

Woww!!! It seems like you can't go wrong for this reel. Originally, a friend asked me for my opinion on this reel. I was impressed with what Orvis had to say on their website and that got me...
Has anybody had any experience witht these reels? I have never purchased from Orvis and unfamiliar with their reels.

I bought a Fishpond Blue River chest pack two years ago and love it. It's great in the summer when a vest is too warm, and I can just leave it on the shore when wading. It can hold two...
Not sure if it was mentioned yet but a good substitution for jungle cock eyes can be fashioned out of a natural guinea fowl feather. Dick Talleur mentions this in his book "Pretty and Practical...
Wonderful photography. It made my favorites list!
Hmmm...first fish..only a few years ago for me:p. It was my second day fly fishing a small stream that connects with the Margaree. I remember hooking several small brookies on a mickey finn. It's...
Excellent column! I enjoyed reading a lot.
I've seen a number of different salmon fly patterns tied on brooch pins. My favourites were the Ross Special, the Silver Doctor, and the Green Higlander. Maybe that's because I like salmon flies...
Matt,
I have seen the Hardy Saint John before and heard nothing but good things about it. I know a man who uses one for salmon fishing with a Sage Z-axis and he says they work well together. His...
Thanks guys. So from what I'm hearing I guess I would be better off buyuing a reel that is most comfortable for me (make sense lol). I am looking for a reel with a decent drag too for fighting salmon...
I have just finished fishing for the year here in Nova Scotia and it seems that I've found myself upgrading my gear already. I just bought a new Sage SLT that I will use for fishing salmon next...
