Re-reading...what I should have said if the dumbbell eyes are below the hook eye....even if the dumbbell eyes are tied on top of the shank.

I was under the impression that a hook would actually ride "shank up" even with dumbbell eyes, if the eyes were set below the hook shank. ...
If the bend is the heaviest part of the hook, putting anything, anywhere, on the shank would work as a counter effect, no?
