I am planning a 2-3 week trip to the Gulf Coast of Florida (from Minnesota) in March. So far I have been tying clousers and deceivers in sizes 6-2/0. What do you salty guys use for your fly boxes? ...

Well my Wife and I are looking at driving from cold and snowy Minnesota to Florida in a few days and I was looking at the state parks in Florida. Many seem to have lakes with bass and panfish...
I thought I was the only one. :D This is a 10wt and a 5 wt with single foot guide hook keepers to match guides. I keep a bag of SF guides (mostly the smallest size, some bigger for rods that...
Anyone using tube flies for warm water species? I have read the archive articles and am thinking of buying a kit to get started. Seems like it could be a neat deal. How do you keep them in a fly...

Just for reference those are rivets in the bottom of my canoe. He tried to get the fly a few times. I couldn't figure out why I kept...
be careful when you ream it out. I tried to use a drill bit and ended up with a 2 piece handle, now I have the birch bark blues and a cork grip. :(

I have a 3, 7 and 9wt IPC Avids, they are great rods for the money plus they have a lifetime warranty. In fact I have a 3 Avid blanks waiting to be built, a 9wt for a friend and a 6 & 10wt for me! ...
The only thing I would worry about is having to move the rod more as the thread comes off different parts of the spool. Just a guess, I haven't worked with one like that.
well here it is, the finished product. Actually I haven't reamed it yet, I just slid it over the blank for the picture. All the wood is Maple from one of my buddys hunting land. I think the next...
Here is a pic of the one I use. I made it a few years ago. I move the rod and find the eye bolt that lines up best. Simple and effective.

What did you use for finish on the birch bark? I used tru-oil on the one I made and it seems that it might be a bit slippery when wet?

Wow that looks AWSOME!!!
 I built one of those last year, it's my FAVORITE rod. I love it!
I would be interested in a few rods too!!! :D
Cabelas has their CSR fly reel on sale right now for $75 at Cabelas.com. I don't have any experience with it but it has a sealed drag and large arbor, plus spare spools are only $40. I have never...
I have an (IPC) avid 3wt, 7wt 9.5', and 9wt 9' and love them. For the $$$ I think they have a good action and another bonus is the lifetime warranty. I also recently bought a 9' 6wt pre-IPC blank...
