Sweet fly Roy
I am still young with 20/20 vision, but the thing that helped my tying the most was a pair of clip on 1.5X reading glasses.
A web cam would work, although video quality would be one of those...
I hate that
Yeah I'd ask for a refund. You can get a "super grade" cape for $150
I'm satisfied with just about every fly I tie, then I get up, go do something, and when I come back to my bench I see all sorts of things I can do better on the next one
John Mclain had some awesome subs at Somerset, they looked way better than the ones in the Fly Tyer article. Shoot him an email- john@feathersmc.com
That sucks, I was looking forward to this one. I'm kind of suprised that with Don Bastians recent article in Fly Tyer that there wasn't more interest.
I wouldn't take the lack of interest in...
Thanks for the recipe, gonna have to try those out next year :D
Got a recipe?
Andy,
I'm gonna tie the Hopatcong. I'm guessing you'd prefer that these were tied on a #6 3399? Or is size up to the tyer?
Thanks,
Alex
Thats a great link, I don't know how many times I could've used that in the past, thanks.
Although- No list of streamer hooks is complete without the Daiichi 2220
Yeah I know who you are. Give me a few hours to make a decision on which pattern I'll be sending in.
Sure sign me up! My class with Don isn't till February, but there are a few I can tie pretty well.
I'd reccomend holding it in mid June. LOTS of different bugs coming off then!
The eye on them is made from twisted gut. You can also use mono, but from what I've been told gut is the way to go. You can buy hooks that have a "return eye" like a normal hook. Why the guys who...
I see where you're coming from flymaker2 and I must respectfully disagree. If patenting fly patterns were the way to make money it would have become common practice decades ago. The people like...
I heard a quote the other day that fits here
"Most of the trouble in this world is caused by people trying to be important"
One of the fun things about tying is the creative aspect of it. ...
Just got off the South Branch of the AuSable, lots of small BWO's and White Caddis. It was a beautiful evening till the sun went down then it got cool QUICK! The fish were very active, and were...
I whip finish, usually 5 or 6 wraps, and so far, knock on wood, have never had a fly come apart on me.
As I understand it, Blessing added the marabou tail after being inspired by Mark Sosin's fly, "The Blossom", a fly with a marabou tail and chenille body.
So, shouldn't Mark Sosin be given credit...
I fish streamers 99% of the time I fish for trout. I love them! Bob Linsenman and Kelly Galloup co-wrote a book called "Modern Streamers for Trophy Trout", I can't reccomend it highly enough when...
I like the dry your fly powder. The stuff just works. Gink works well too, but us a little messy at times.
I'm no expert by any means, but your loops might be too tight. maybe from being used to throwing the bigger flies with that rod. Hopefully if I'm incorrect someone will correct me.
I brought one home once and put it in the sink to watch. I think the body silhouette and is important to match, but what really stuck out was those legs kicking to get itself around, it was like it...
I think the one near the CCC bridge fits what you're looking for
