I agree and have used this cast with overhanging trees/brush. It works great for nymphing or bead fishing where you are drifting the presentation along the bottom.

Very clever... and maybe insightful....
And to you...
I am thankful for an eternal future with my Lord, for my family, for the freedom that we enjoy and those who work hard to protect it, and even for the snow.
Blessings,
You are very wise to do the research. There are new products and new improvements to old products almost every day. The Tundra Tech does indeed look very good in the store and on their web site. ...
It is really difficult to communicate the proper tone on a forum... my apologies...
I am in agreement with you regarding the value of a quality drag. Can we get by without it, sure, but I am...
Is it a need or a want? All I really need for a drag is the palm of my hand... but having a very smooth mechanical drag is a very nice luxury (and practical because if allows me to use both hands to...
This is a great post. I frequent a stream that fits your description exactly. I have used several different rods with different actions and have found great success regardless.
Here are a few...

Here is a discussion on Ross vs. Lamson that may be helpful
Cheers
When I was considering a new reel, I too was considering the Ross vs. the Lamson. I felt that there was a big hole in the Ross line up in the 5/6 wt at the time so I went with the Lamson and have...
Here is a great Alaska suggestion: http://www.blueberryislandlodge.com This is a do it yourself lodge on the Kvichak River in the Bristol Bay region of Alaska. This area has world class salmon and...
I have gone through two sets of Tundra Tech, first set lasted one season and then may as well have been made out of landing net material... it was replaced... second set did likewise.
This jacket...
I agree with your time estimate... I did the trip 4 years ago to Eugene and made it in 3 days driving 20 hours per day. We did the round trip then for about $1500... probably double by now.
For...
Indeed the king season is closed, the sockeye are still trickling in, the rivers are replete with pink salmon and the coho are making a great start. The early run sockeye are just starting to drop...
It is difficult to tell for sure, but could this be a Clark's grebe? It is very similar to the Western and often shares the same habitat. It is distinguished by less black plummage, especially on...
It is indeed a coupled pvc pipe for a stabilization bar. Where it is useful, beside stabilizing yourself, is that it helps to spread the tubes.
Hugefish-80... no offense taken. But the thread...
Wasn't arguing, simply exploring... sorry for the appearance of a hijack.
I think that any of the tubes you mention would be fine. I am indeed happy with the Togiak and to get urethane bladders...
This has been very informative for me. I think I am going to look into changing out these stem valves to the Halkey... can't be too difficult. Anyone ever done that? What kind of glue for the...
I am fairly certain that this is the valve:

That sounds like a valve that I had on a caddis tube.. this on twists to open and close... I suppose it is possible that I didn't close it firm enough in the beginning, however my quick run to shore...
I have to plead ignorance on that one. These valves have a conical plastic end that you twist to open/close. I had to do a speed test yesterday because in the process of getting in and out of the...
Thanks for the question. Indeed, this does have a urethane bladder. Here is a float tube Comparison chart where it clearly indicates a urethane bladder.
I do have one issue/caution for the...
OK. I'll answer your question:
I spent all day today floating in a Togiak. There are indeed many good features that are noteworthy:
10 pounds!
2 individual air bladders (urethane)
...
Of course! I wasn't considering the igloos....:p
I don't understand this...
Do you mean that because the fish are huge, or people don't know how to fish, or the air at 60degrees latitude is too thin for the rods...
Two out of the three may...
