The best thing I have found to lubricate my fly reels is Phil Woods Waterproof Bicycle Grease. This stuff rocks! It repels water and is super slick.
Check your local bicycle shop and grease it...
I use George Gehrke's Gink.
Been using it for twenty years.
Probably will never change.

Mantis is prolly right.
I do need a 1wt rod to go with the reel and line I already have, but outside of tippet stuff, leaders, maybe some hooks, cigars, bourbon, and gink I think I've got it all....
Send it back to Orvis.
They will have it back in spiffy shape in no time.
I have sent both of my CFOs back now and then for cleaning and lubrication.

Pain was awful yesterday, but easing off today. Doc said about 9 weeks...

Try the Orvis knot.
Go to Orvis.com and search for the knot.
I have been using it and it is pretty easy for my old peepers.

If, no make than when, you fall in the river and stumble to the bank, take the top part of your waders down and empty the water before you release the belt! Nothing like having multi-gallons of cold...

I use Phil Wood Waterproof Bicycle Grease on my CFOs. Find it at a good bicycle store. It repels water and you only need a little bit.

I like a Balance Bar in the morning and maybe a piece of string cheese. For lunch a handful of peanuts and some smoked turkey breast dipped in Gray Poupon. In the afternoon, whatever I put in the...
I would check eBay for the orginal Battenkill or check your local ff shop for one that might be on sale. It is pretty bullet-proof and you should be able to find one to meet your budget.
