My local shop does not carry Tenkara rods. If one were to buy a Tenkara and did not have access to test them before buying, what would you say would be a good choice from their line-up for fishing...

Sorry to hear of your fall and resulting damage to your new Tenkara. Does the warranty policy cover such damage?
I could not agree more. John has captured my interest. There are places along the Sierras and in particular along the Sonora Pass I feel the Tenkara was made for.

If I use spiders and want to give them some action (movement) how best to strip in the line? Does one just raise the rod or are there specific techniques in Tenkara?
There are a ton of Tenkara videos on YouTube. That looks like a lot of fun. My wife is giving me the evil eye as she knows I am thinking of ways to convince her I need one. :lol:
