I use the rotary function as much as I can, but not for a floss body. Try the technique I've explained. If you don't like it, don't use it.

The repeatative stroking is what keeps the floss even. It's not practical to do this concurrently with rotating the fly.

Make sure youe under body is smooth. Use a short piece of floss, no more than 10 inches. Be sure your hands are clean. Don't use the rotary function of your vise. Stroke the floss repeatedly while...

I like calf's hair/tail. Comb it out and stack it 'pointy end" down. When tying it in, the thin, long tapered hair ends give a smooth tapered body.

Why get rid of any? You have to realize that 90% of this pastime is the accumulation of stuff. "G" :wink:

Strongly recommend you take a thermometer to check water temperature.

Fished Deer Creek last four evenings. On three nights, fishermen were standing in three of my four favorite spots. On the fourth night, it was four for four.

For packing in to lakes, I like a bag of rocks with parachute cord. Stops the wind drift. Obviously you pick up the rocks at the lake.
