T&T makes wonderful rods, but the price seems a bit high for a rod of this age, the reel and accessories notwithstanding. If it were me, I'd look around for a newer, 4-piece version.

Anybody using the Sage Xi2 6 weight rod? How do you like it? I'm thinking of picking this up for light saltwater fishing, bass fishing, heavy trout, carp, etc.
What kind of line does this rod...
Anyone fish the Sage TXL rod, specifically the 2wt. model? I'm wondering how this rod's action compares to the SLT.
Thanks,
Fred
Hi Chub,
Can you tell us a bit about the fishing in Iowa? Small streams, spring creeks?
I went pheasant hunting in southeast Iowa several years ago and thoroughly enjoyed the countryside and...
I would avoid anything from Bass Pro. They're arrogant, ignorant of fly fishing, and they don't like to stand behind their products or honor warranties. Beware!
Instead, why not visit your local...
Fish Pimps strike indicators and a bottle of Courvasier.
Spike, I like Winston rods, and if I were in your shoes and had the money, I'd go and buy a Boron IIx 8 weight for the applications you mention. I own one and it's my favorite saltwater rod.
But...
I agree, the T&T LPS is an awesome fly rod. One of my favorites!
Glad you're back, Mr. Hattaway. And I like your comment about collecting friends

Stevie Ray Vaughn could play Jimmie Hendrix better than Jimmie Hendrix could.
Right on, Rich! You called it! We may be witnessing the birth of a new, and improved, era!

I'm with Bamboozle. I don't have any room in my car, what with my beer and whisky. Fishing rods are usually relegated to the back seat or trunk, while my spirits are never out of reach.

Single-Malt Scotch or, preferably, Maker's Mark bourbon, before, during, and after fishing.
Oh, first thing in the morning, Starbuck's bold-blend coffee. Frequently, this is spiced up with the...
If it's in any kind of functinal condition, I'd get it if you need it. The Gunnison was, in my opinion, the very best reel Ross ever made. Shame on them for discontinuing it!
Don't forget Arkansas. The White River system is unbelievably productive...lots of fish.
I don't have a vanity plate. Used to run an "Environmental Awareness" plate, until I tired of the extra fee.
Recently, however, I saw some guy in one of these monster trucks with wheels as tall...
Hi Okie,
Try the Lower Mountain Fork River for brown trout. It's probably a 3-hour drive from Tulsa, but it's a much more pleasant and scenic fishery than the Lower Illinois. Better trout...
Everything Ted (Tibor) Juracsik makes is first class. Love the Tibor reels.
Gringo, I'm rolling after reading your post! You speak (write) the truth!!
Great job!!

I like old blues (Robert Johnson; Mississippi John Hurt, etc.) or jazz. Sometimes I can listen to older rock, or older country, but never contemporary country.
Mostly I like jazz and blues.

Abel "Blade" knife.
These days I'm happy simply to be in places where wild trout are found. They're usually beautiful.
Diane, that's a beautiful photo...makes me happy just to look at it!
Question: "What do these trout eat?"
Answer: "Oh, they eat all kinds of stuff."
So true.
Lots of nice spring creek rods out there: Winston WT 8'3 weight, 8' 4 weight Tom Morgan Favorite, LT 8'3" 4 weight. The little Sage SLT 7'6" 3 weight is also a nice rod. And you'd be missing out if...
I've not come across anything of note, although once I "caught" a soft-sided tackle bag containing various boxes, etc. I assumed someone had capsized their canoe and lost the bag during heavy flows...
