Terry, the vise jaws should be raised to a near vertical position to tie the smaller hooks. This position will allow you to place more of the hook into the jaws without having to get so close to the...

Fatman, in the 80's Mustad had area distributors, and many of them reboxed hooks for sale to shops and local dealers. I've seen boxes of 10k and 25k hooks that did have the Mustad logo printed on...
Sockeye, I have a like new Regal that I'll take $95 for. You pay shipping.
Stupid chat! Says my name is not available...so how do we get in?
What does it matter how expensive my gear is? What matters is my willingness to give you the hot fly of the day if you aren't catching many fish, and a short lesson on how to use it if you need the...
Most modern lines seem to be made of PVC, and I don't believe heat is as bad for them as direct exposure to sunlight. If a line is kept clean and stored in a dark place, it should last for several...
Foambug, where in the Ozarks?
Tupp's bobbin spacers? Help me out here, guys.
I use whatever is handy that I like the looks of.
I'll be tying all day Thursday and Friday AM. Come by my table.
JC, yep, that too!
Donald, I fish a tailwater, so our "buzzers" are almost microscopic. I tie them with clear or silver-lined glass beads to represent an air bubble, and the ones with the bubble usually outproduce the...
Hi, Len, once again I'll go against popular opinion. I'd stay out of the water as much as possible, and would start at the head of the pool with a streamer, soft hackle or winged wet. I would attempt...
georgiared, I have the 7' 3 wt. I love it for fishing midge emergers on extremely light tippets. It's a noodle for casting, but does a wonderful job of protecting light tippets and fishing small...
A granny weave extended body is as nearly bulletproof as anything you can do. It's easy to add tails if you weave the body on a sewing needle before tying the fly.
Joe, the biggest flatheads push 100 pounds. I believe a muskie would swim away screaming for its life.
PS; Folks on this board will see me defending or recommending Dorber products quite often. The reason is that I live only 30 miles from the headquarters of Dorber and am quite familiar with their...
Ol' Blue, I use the Dorber lines quite a bit. They are supple and cast well. The biggest difference I find between them and the higher priced lines is their lifespan. They usually don't last as long...
Wow! Those who live her know about it, those who don't should see it!
Baxter county , AR, looks like someone set off an airburst nuclear device. I don't think there's a single tree in the county...
Chris, after my previous reply to your post, I stopped by Dorber's HQ yesterday and spoke to them about your predicament. I think they have been in an unavoidable situation regarding quality...
Guys, the owner of Global Dorber recently died. I don't know the current status of the company, but I will see what I can find out.
My apologies to all the Renzetti fans out there, but I've never liked the Traveler precisely because the rotary mechanism seemed a bit on the weak side to me. Having said that, I've used a Regal for...
Mostly it's caused by dirty lines. Modern lines usually have a core that isn't fibrous and soaks up little or no water. Clean lines thoroughly and dress them well and the problem is usually solved.
Merry Christmas to all my friends, present and future. Wish you all a fantastic Christmas and a great new year!!!
Thanks, Jack, and a happy birthday it has been! My lovely wife made me an apple cobbler, which I prefer over cake about 100:1, and bought me a new Porter Cable saw to replace the old Black & Decker...
