Years ago,we make some vise bases from a masonry product. For the stems we used aluminum tubes that we drilled and threaded for thumb screws... They were epoxied into the base and worked very well.

#14-16 flies/nymphs will be taken "deep." You will kill many undersized sunfish and destroy your flies retrieving them, even if you hooks are barbless... You are fishing barbless, right?
