Here is a mount I just finished for a client. This is a reproduction I did using a pic and the measurments. The fish was released to fight another day. The fish was taken in the Bitteroot river,...
There are several hobby and pro rod builders here.
Here is the first fish caght w/ this rod. I was using it in the 8'3" version w/ a 5wt sylk line. Rod handled all flies I used, casting up to a #6 beadhead streamer.
...
Been doing like that for 10 years on over 150 rods. Works for me.
For a 7 1/2' rod I cut the blank as follows. Butt section 45", tip section 45 1/2" Once you add the ferrules the lengths should be the same.
John,
did the rest of the pics ever come up for you? Yea, I've been waiting for Betty to chime in also,LOL.
I use the same as snake guides, ie; size 1 snake, size 1 single foot.
Thanks Joe. The blank started life as a 7 1/2' one piece blank.
Very nice. Cool touch w/ the quarter.
Very nice!
Thanks, guys. The blank is one of my custom Lamiglas blanks.

This is an idea I have been working on for over 6 months. I have made a 4pce pack rod w/ different butt sections to make 2 rod lengths w/ the same rod. My first in this series will be a 8'3''/7'3''...
Here is a "catch & release" Chrome steelhead pedastal Mount I did for a client. I use a special chrome technique, giving a true reflective chrome color, not silver paint.

I charge $21 an inch for a wall mount. This includes driftwood or a wood plaque.
Thanks for the compliments everyone.
Here is steelhead I did for a client. Fish was caught in Michigan. 38" long. As always, fish was released.

Yes, all are reproductions. I have been pushing this type of fish mount since the mid 1980's. It has just caught on within the last few years.
I used to get $100 for a salmon fly tied w/ the real feathers, not substitutes. That was in 1981. I was 16 at the time.
Thanks for the compliments guys. This fish was 26". It is made of several different types of resins. I do all types of fish. I will post some other types of fish soon . You can see many more fish...

I have been making rods on the spg blanks for a couple of years now. The lightest blank is the 780. The 720 makes a better 5wt. The 780 makes a good 4 or 5wt. I have one for sale on my site that I...
Ghosting or silvering is NOT a wanted effect. It is caused by micro air bubbles in the silk. I use two types of varnish to achieve the clear wraps. First couple of coats w/ amber varnish, than finish...
Transparent wraps can be hard to achieve w/o a "ghosting" or silvering effect. You have to try all methods on some srcap blanks as previously stated.See which works best for you. 'boo and glass both...
Cork or wood is fine, people use both. Red was traditional, but you can use whatever color you want .I like matching thread when it contrasts the rattan. If it blends to much,I'd go w/ brown or...
